Maybe because it was my first fallout game but I actually return to 3 like every year. I like the stuff new vegas adds but the world of new vegas just doesnt immerse me as much as 3 for some reason. I love both games though!

It's funny for me as an OTA (Older Than Average) gamer, people looking back on Reach like it's this Thing From The Misty Past ™️. 2010 seems like 15 minutes ago, not almost 15 years. Halo: CE feels so much more "vintage", even though there are fewer years between CE and Reach, than Reach and now (sorry, that's a lot of math). I'm an old school Halo guy - a fan from way back. And as both a writer and a military veteran, Reach the game is a much better story than Reach the novel. Nothing against Mr. Nylund; but the novel has weird inconsistencies about military life and training that really bother me, and I'm just not the biggest fan if his writing style. Totally subjective opinion, so take it as you will.

I agree with most everything you said about Reach. My favorite is Halo 3 but mostly for the good memories. Reach is definitely the best of the franchise.

The discussion on player choices having consequences reminds me of my greatest disappointment with skyrim's side stories: how none of them really felt like they mattered to ME, the player. I could struggle or "struggle" through the companions, college of winterhold, or civil war storylines and at the end feel like I accomplished not much or nothing at all. Finishing the college's story, for instance, makes you the arch mage. What does the arch mage do? Well, supposedly they would run the college, teach the students, and do things one would expect the leader/owner of a magic school to do. Apparently not to skyrim, since all it means for you, the player, is some fancy robes, a staff, and a room in the college. Nothing else. And it's the same for 90% of the other "stories" in the game (without mods), nothing or not much change to the world, you fight for one side or the other and all YOU get out of it is food, clothing, and gear. People didn't complain about this when Skyrim released, because that was 13 years ago, but in a game like Starfield, I would have expected and loved to be able to rise to the top of one of the factions, or maybe make my own, and start conquering the galaxy: sending fleets to invade systems, trade, etc. Basically: Mount and Blade, but in space.

I'm getting tired of the amount to which video games these days bring the player interaction to a grinding halt so that the game can show off some sort of animation. This is especially prevalent in LEGO games and even more noticeable when playing couch co-op, where one player is in the middle of a task that gets interrupted by a character interaction, a story animation, or a cutscene. It's infuriating.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about Pixar’s money-baller era. You just skipped over how great Coco was. Coco is the best-animated movie ever made, and the new Pixar movies are deep and innovative. Soul and Elemental are both great.

I thought I was going crazy NGL. All I've been seeing are rave reviews or derogatory hatred to the show. Thanks you so much for an actual nuanced review of the show as it stands alone and then how it's made worse when you dig into the lore of ANY game, not just non-Bethesda titles. The show was a fun watch as long as you don't think about anything that's happening. The show was a fun singular watch that is best forgotten after the water cooler chats about it the next day.
